Na cidade de São Paulo, as vendas realizadas na semana do Dia das Mães caíram 8,2% ante a mesma semana do ano passado. No final de semana da data, as vendas tiveram queda de 10,6% em relação ao mesmo período do ano anterior.

De acordo com os economistas da Serasa Experian, a queda do poder de compra dos brasileiros, tendo em vista a escalada do desemprego, e a inflação ainda em patamar elevado, afetaram negativamente o movimento varejista no Dia das Mães deste ano. Também o crédito mais caro e escasso contribuiu para o desempenho negativo desta que, depois do Natal, é a mais importante data comemorativa do varejo nacional.
