Consumidor deve ficar de olho nas taxas de juros


Taxas de empréstimos chegam a 900% ao ano e podem complicar a vida de endividados. Pesquisa aponta que aumentou o número de instituições oferecendo crédito facilitado.

Sem dinheiro no bolso e com contas para pagar, a solução que parece mais fácil e às vezes a única alternativa para um endividado, é recorrer a empréstimos – especialmente aqueles sem burocracia. Em meio aos números vermelhos, as propagandas das financeiras e bancos são atrativas e se mostram como uma luz no fim do túnel. Mas dependendo das taxas de juros – que podem chegar a mais de 900% ao ano –, condições para pagamento e das próprias instituições, os consumidores correm o risco de ter um prejuízo ainda maior.

“Sem informação e orientação é possível que o dinheiro, em vez de ajudar, piore a mais situação financeira do endividado. Para uma pessoa que está com dívidas, não é necessariamente uma nova oferta de crédito que vai resolver o problema”, alerta a economista do Instituto Brasileiro de Defesa do Consumidor (Idec), Ione Amorim. Pesquisa realizada pelo instituto com 63 instituições do país entre 20 de março e 27 abril constatou que, atualmente, há uma grande facilidade para obtenção de empréstimos, mesmo para aquelas pessoas que estão com os nomes em cadastros de restrição – os chamados “nome sujo”.

Foram analisados pelo Idec bancos e financeiras independentes ou vinculadas a lojas de departamento que oferecem empréstimos a seus clientes. O levantamento mostrou que as taxas de juros chegam a números exorbitantes, totalizando até 919% em 12 meses. E sem uma leitura atenta dos contratos, o consumidor poderá pagar ainda mais com a inclusão de serviços que encarecem o custo total, como seguro em caso de desemprego e títulos de capitalização.

Outra estratégia adotada é o alargamento do prazo para pagamento das parcelas – prática adotada principalmente por lojas de departamento. Geralmente, é “dado” ao consumidor um período de 120 dias para começar a quitar a dívida. “Eles só não sabem que já há a incidência de juros nesse período. Quanto mais se distancia dos 30 dias iniciais, mais caro será o empréstimo”, diz Ione Amorim. No chamado crédito para negativados, o risco de prejuízos é ainda maior, com taxas de juros extremamente elevadas. De acordo com a pesquisa, há instituições cobrando 24% aos mês. “Isso é quase um convite para que a pessoa continue endividada”, pondera.

Maria Inês Dolci, coordenadora institucional da Proteste, alerta para outra facilidade que pode se tornar um perigo para o consumidor: o pagamento do valor mínimo do cartão de crédito. Sobre o saldo restante, são aplicados juros. “Fazer em empréstimo com um custo menor, às vezes é melhor que pagar o mínimo”, ensina. De acordo com ela, um grande problema é que, com o crédito fácil e a isenção de impostos, o brasileiro passou a comprar mais bens e produtos. “Aí veio uma crise econômica, muitas pessoas usaram o cartão de crédito como um plus para o salário e depois perderam o emprego”, diz Dolci. Na dúvida, o melhor é sempre buscar informações em entidades de defesa do consumidor.

EDUCAÇÃO  Embora os índices cobrados não sempre sejam ilegais, cabe ação judicial por quem se sentir lesado. Geralmente a Justiça tem entendido que taxas abusivas são aquelas maiores que a média praticada no mercado ou acima do índice permitido pelo Banco Central. Também podem ser questionadas a aplicação de juros composto – mês a mês – e a cobrança de taxas e encargos predatórios, que podem somar até R$ 3 mil. O grande problema é que pouca gente recorre contra os abusos: de cada 10 cobranças indevidas, duas são contestadas, segundo dados do Portal do Empréstimo. O consumidor deve procurar o Procon ou Juizados Especias de Consumo.

Diante desse cenário, analistas sempre alertam que o ideal é tentar procurar a empresa onde tem a dívida e tentar renegociar. Até porque, ao pagar a primeira parcela, o nome já é retirado da listagem de restrição a crédito. E claro, o ponto chave é uma educação financeira e controle dos gastos. “O consumidor deve ser educado desde cedo, desde a mesada que você paga para a criança, para que ela saiba que é preciso economizar”, adverte Maria Inês Dolci.
